Research Interests

Genetics and Genomics of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders and Other Complex Traits

Research Description

Dr. Riley has 20+ years experience studying the genetics of psychiatric illness. His broad area of research is the genetics, molecular genetics and genomics of schizophrenia, alcohol dependence, major depression and other complex traits. Current work in the Riley lab includes genomewide association (GWAS) and copy number variation studies, exome and targeted next-generation sequencing, and analyses of gene-gene interaction, networks and pathways in schizophrenia and alcohol dependence. Dr. Riley works with an international group of colleagues including key collaborators at Trinity College Dublin, Queens University Belfast and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai and numerous other institutions. The lab group includes post-docs, pre-docs, masters students and technicians.
